I will be breaking down how to use the play Cover 3 out of 3-4 Normal in every situation witht eh exception of goaline. The first is going to be how to defend Shotgun Compressed Sets.
Examples of this include:

Gun Snugs
Gun Snugs Flip
Gun Tight
Gun Bunch Wk
Gun Bunch TE

These will also work to stop undercenter compressed sets however you will have to account for the run more.

Here are various tactics used for compressed sets:

Curl Routes
Slants
RB Curls
Corners (very common)
Posts
Streaks by the inside WR, high pass (often used in combination with a corner or another streak or fade)
Crossing Routes Such as the one in PA QB Choice out of Gun Tight

This will stop all of them:



Come out in 34 Normal, Cover 3
Show Blitz
Freeze the D
Move each CB To the Outside 5-10 yards, to where they would normally play if there was a WR on the outside.
Make the DT do a spy.
Control the saftey.

How this stops the tactic's above:

Curl Routes - the yellow zones from the LBers, when blitz is shown, are right in place to stop a curl from one of the WRs.

Slants - the yellow zones also negate the slant route.

RB Curls - The DT in a spy is what stops this, the DT sould be right in front of the RB on a curl, unless his route is extended, in which case a LB will cover him, if someone has a fast QB, consider putting the DEs in contains to make it so he cannot move around the make the RB open.

Corners (very common) - the Corners in blue zones, when moven to the sideline will shut down corners every time. If they are not moved over, corner routes will beat them all day.

Posts - you control your saftey to stop the post, manually guard it, should be a pick everytime if thrown.

Streaks by the inside WR, high pass (often used in combination with a corner or another streak or fade) - This is why you control the safety as well, well manually guard the streaks, should be a pick.


Crossing Routes Such as the one in PA QB Choice out of Gun Tight - the yellow zones should stop this and the blue zones as well, unless they are sending someone into the flats, in which case you should change the flat zones to purple zones.

which safety do u use...i like to use yellow safety out of 3-4 ,,,so i can cover the middle of the field more

do you not get owned by the run? and if someone was using TB playbook they would HB direct snap(legit with RB) right up the middle and prolly own ur face....am i right? cuz you would have to stop that then it would leave other stuff open...

No I dont...

This is for shotgun compressed sets... meaning to run it they have to do a draw, no direct snap in any compressed sets.

And striker if you controlled the safetey with a yellow zone posts and streaks would burn you all day, I control the blue zone safety
