Baseball Prospectus researchers have concluded that there is no repeatable ability of clutch hitting. As writer Joe Sheehan said, "Over the course of a game, a month, a season or a career, there is virtually no evidence that any player or group of players possesses an ability to outperform his established level of ability in clutch situations, however defined."[12] They cite studies which find that there is insignificant correlation between year-to-year performance in clutch situations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_Prospectus#Clutch_hitting |

Yeah I agree with you. There has to be clutch in baseball. When someone gets more game winning RBI or walk of HRs than another or raises his productivity in the biggest stages of the games then that is clutch otherwise people wont be sad when A-Rod is up to bat in a post season game. |

exactly what paul pierce did before this season; i see the logic brotha. |
Pierce sat out to tank for Oden or Durant if the Celtics really were a contender he would have played through it
Totally different than Manny sitting out
but still people blow shit out of proportion its 1 game so its the yankees he prolly was sore and needed a day off you know what your going to get from him at the end of the season and in the playoffs |
Peter Gammons brought up a good point. The days where Manny chooses to sit out are against good pitchers. "Everyone in the clubhouse knows the names. Joba Chamberlain (twice), Felix Hernandez (twice), Edinson Volquez, Justin Verlander -- pitchers that Manny Ramirez didn't feel quite right to face, be it a knee, a hamstring, his contract or the pitcher's velocity, and those he left for someone else in the Red Sox "family" to face." Later on it goes to say that the red sox will not pick up his option for next year. I have the feeling that they will tho. |

| ---------------------------------------------------------- a clutch player doesnt determine the factor if a team is going to sign them or not. |

idk seems like a consolation prize to me after the cubs and brewers got good pitchers and the Phillies will be battling them for the wildcard I do think Philly has to make another move cuz they have to realize Blanton isnt gonna be a great help to win the division or wildcard |
Your wrong

yup, you too

wrong again
Blanton is a beast, on the mound and at the plate
And essentially, his addition was better than Sabathia and Harden because.......... We are about to be WS champions. |

for the most part i agree, except that the brewers certainly would not have made the playoffs without the addition of CC, and the phillies more likely than not would have made the playoffs without blanton |
