Is he the Bears franchise quarterback for now and the future? Can the Bears count on him like the Colts count on Manning or Saints on Brees? Express your opinions.

grossman is the bears band-aid. he is covering their weak spot (QB). they cant draft a QB cuz their defense is at its peak and they need to compete now. he is just average

He did good during the beginning of the season but then he choked in the super bowl. He just needs to get more consistent and the bears will be set for a while.

Guys, it was his FIRST FULL YEAR as a QB. Give the guy a break for chrissakes. He has huuuuuge upside, but made a ton of first year errors. I expect to see big improvement this year. Don't buy into all the ESPN bs hype about how bad he is. Watch the actual games. The team is wrapped around his finger, and he's a good leader. If he stops making rookie mistakes this year, the Bears (one of the top 2 scoring offenses in the league last year, folks) will be more than just ok.

I'm not against benching him if he doesn't develop, but for a guy who played his first full season, on the whole I couldn't have hasked for much more.

Bones...spoken by someone who's never seen Griese play. He's a solid quarterback, but his upside is far below Rex's. The guy has NEVER won a playoff game, even with all the talent he had around him in Denver.

Think about it before you call a guy who made it to the superbowl in his first year as a starting QB a "scrub".

Rex Grossman is the franchise quarterback, I mean coem on he played for Florida smilez.

No on the real he just needs to be alittle more consistent. Like you can have bad games..but not HORRIBLE games! He has 300 yard games..the nthe next game fumble 2 snaps and throw 2 picks..if he fixes that my boy will bewrecking the NFC :D

I think that with time grossman should develope into a franchise QB i say give him this year to start seeing improvement and by mid next year if he still insn't playing up to par then talk about a QB change....Griese isn't the answer...sorry bones....but ur still my boy

well no shit his upside is better hes 26 and griese is 32. The Bears have proved they are the elite team in the NFC and they simply can't beat the AFC with Grossman. They want a title "now" and Griese is there best option "now". Its hard to judge some1 in the playoffs when hes only had 1 playoff game, and truefully I don't give a shit if he did play a lot of games and never won a playoff game in Denver, they've only won one without him. And if you think Grossman got them to the superbowl then your dead wrong and he was the main reason they lost it. The colts shut down the run and Grossman panicked in the pocket. Also Griese had a good preseason. And what talent around him in Denver? Rod Smith and a washed up Terrell Davis at the time? He was a pro-bowler in 2000. And had to come in and start after John Elway retired. I'd say those were pretty tough shoes to fit.

u know until grossman dont turn the ball over 4 times in a game and doesnt fumble 2 snaps in a row i wouldnt call him consistent. as for griese there is no way he will be starting. lovie smith loves rex but honestly the coaches need to look at his mechanics sometimes. he tends to float the ball up there because he is throwing off his back foot. i mean his mechanics are screwy sometimes.

    >>And if you think Grossman got them to the superbowl then your dead wrong and he was the main reason they lost it. <<

Good God, did you watch the game?? The defense COULD. NOT. GET. OFF. THE. FIELD. Rex was not good in the 4th quarter playing catch up, but had a rating over over 100 through the first 3 quarters (something most folks aren't aware of...)

We could go around on this one for hours and hours. In my opinion, all the Bears sucked at the Superbowl. Period. (except for Hester)

I lived in Tampa when he was there and saw him regularly. Griense, while certainly a solid quarterback, doesn't have the arm Rex does. He can't throw the deep outs with any zip, which is pretty important with Turner's offense.

We'll find out. I really think with a full year under his belt, Grossman will be markedly better. If not, bench him. I have no problem with that. But don't discount the numerous clutch passes he's made (i.e. to beat Seattle in the playoffs or Tampa in the regular season) when he didn't choke.

For the Bears' sake, I really hope he puts it all together this year.
